Every time we do laundry, our clothes shed tiny, unseen microfibers (including plastic), which go down the drains of our washing machines and into our waterways. And most of us don’t even know it! There’s plastic hiding in our waterways and oceans! That’s not great for the animals living in those waters or for us.

The Cora Ball is a new kind of laundry ball. Inspired by the way coral filters the ocean, the Cora Ball collects our microfibers into fuzz we can see, so we can dispose of microfibers in the right way. At the same time, Cora Ball helps PREVENT microfibers from breaking off your clothes, reducing the total amount of microfibers produced and protecting your clothes. Together, we can keep these microfibers out of our waterways and our ocean. Just toss the Cora Ball into your washer. It's a simple step that has a big impact wash after wash.

  • Prevents AND catches microfiber pollution
  • Reduces the amount of microfiber shed by your clothes
  • Just toss into ANY laundry machine to get started
  • Gentle on everyday clothes, yet highly durable
  • Easy to use, easy to clean

DID YOU KNOW? On their own, microfibers that shed from our clothes are too small for the eye to see. The Cora Ball’s stalks, inspired by coral, help prevent, catch, and then tangle these tiny fibers into fuzz balls that are big enough to see and then grab.

RIGHT FROM THE START, you may see fiber in your Cora Ball, you may see whole fuzz balls, you may see hair. For some, however, it may take dozens of washes to see anything at all. This depends on a variety of factors; from your clothes to your washing machine settings. Even when you can’t see fibers, Cora Ball is protecting your clothes and our ocean by reducing microfiber shedding.

Cora Ball both catches and prevents microfiber pollution from your clothes and home textiles. Just toss the Cora Ball into your washer and stop microfibers before they flow into our waterways! When you see lint-like fuzz big enough to pinch, simply pull it out and put it in the trash.

The Cora Ball works best with your everyday clothes. Please separate your delicates, knits, fine fabrics, anything with tassels, frayed ends or thin straps. These items can get tangled in the Cora Ball.

Cleaning is easy and similar to cleaning a hairbrush. When you see fuzz/lint balls that are big enough to grab, simply pull them out and throw them in the trash bin (we are working on finding a way to upcycle or recycle them, until then just do the same thing with this lint that you do with your dryer lint).

Because the problem of microfiber pollution caused by laundry is a relatively new one, related science is ongoing with regular updates. Here are the latest ways you can reduce the amount of microfiber produced in your home:

  • Wash less often.
  • Use cold water.
  • Wash with a 3/4 to full load.
  • Use a liquid detergent (rather than a powdered detergent)
  • When it's time to replace or select a washing machine, front loaders cause less shedding than top loaders.
  • If you have hard water in your home, using a softening system will have multiple benefits, one of which is to reduce shedding in your washing machine

SMALL, COLLECTIVE ACTIONS HAVE THE POWER TO ACHIEVE BIG RESULTS

Lots of littles make a big! A lot of tiny microfibers are making a big problem in our ocean. At the same time, our daily actions to live lower footprint lives will add up to big impact to save our ocean and planet.

Your use of a Cora Ball protects air, water and your clothes. The Cora Ball’s design not only collects microfibers until you remove them and put them in the trash, but it also prevents your clothes from breaking up. That means your clothes will last longer while protecting your public waterways.

The Cora Ball is made of 100% recycled and 100% recyclable soft and stretchy plastic that will maintain its physical and chemical properties in the temperature extremes of both residential and commercial washers and dryers.
